First Meeting

Hello!

A few friends, drummers, and tea drinkers met up on Sunday, February 8th to watch a video documentary of the City Repair Project - a DIY (do it yourself) project with the intent to curb the dangers of motor vehicle traffic, and offer beautiful alternatives to the lifeless atmosphere of a normal city intersection.

Well, we were pretty inspired, and decided to take take some of our own action. We are looking to create some of our own inspiring intersections, that offer things like - book/information kiosks where literature, zines, and community events can be posted and shared; radical benches, that are so colorful you just have to sit on them and chat with others; tea shacks; urban gardens - and, well, anything else you would like to see.

There are a couple intersections currently in mind, but hopefully in time the whole city becomes the project. It seems like this could spread like a virus.

There is going to be a second showing of the documentary at the ORI on February 22nd, 7p.m. at the ORI. Since that is a Sunday, you will be expected to attend Jazz Orgy following.

  2. Awesome! Thanks for the kudos, Polly. What neighborhoods would you like to see beautified?

I think this blog will be a central online resource for the projects! Hope to see you with paintbrush in hand in the streets!
